Best purple polish ever: China Glaze - Flying Dragon

During the Soccer World Championship Enchantra (dutch webstore) had some nice discounts on their products. One of those was a 50% discount on China Glaze during the game. I didn't see this myself in time, but my collegue did. So she called me and asked me if she could order something for me and the first color that popped in my head was Flying Dragon.

Tijdens het WK had Enchantra regelmatig leuke acties op de producten die ze verkopen. Eén van die acties was gedurende een wedstrijd 50% korting op China Glaze nagellakken. Ik had zelf de actie niet gezien, maar een collega van me wel. Toen ze belde of ze iets voor me mee moest bestellen wist ik maar één kleur uit mn hoofd op te noemen: Flying Dragon.

Kleur
Neon paars met een rode ondertoon met kleine blauwe en rozerode glttertjes erin. Echt een bijzondere kleur.

Color
Neon purple with a red undertone and tiny blue and pinkish red glitter in it. It's really a special color.
Applicatie
De lak is vrij dun, ik had 3 lagen nodig voor een gedekt resultaat. Later kwam ik erachter dat ik best een 4e laag had kunnen gebruiken zodat je op de macro-foto's in direct zonlicht niet mn nagel er doorheen had gezien. Maar in het echt zag het er goed uit.
Oh ja, de lak droogt matte op, wat is dat toch met neons en dat ze zelden glanzend opdrogen? Maargoed, lekkere dikke laag topcoat erover en dan ziet het er spectaculair uit.

Application
The polish is a bit thin, so I needed 3 coats for opacity. When I took pictures of my mani I noticed that a fourth coat would have been better for the macro-shots in direct sunlight, but IRL there was no VNL visible.
Oh and this polish dries matte, why do neons dry matte??? A nice thick layer of topcoat made the polish look spectacular.
Zo jammer dat ik deze nagellak nog maar 1 keer heb kunnen dragen, ik heb meer handen nodig om alle lakken die ik mooi vind te kunnen dragen en ook nog nieuwe lakken te kunnen proberen.
It's a shame I only managed to wear this polish once, I really need more hands so I can wear all polishes I like and try some new ones at the same time.
Ik was zo enthousiast over mijn mani dat ik maar foto's bleef maken, ik was niet te stoppen.
I was so enthousiastic about this mani that I couldn't stop making pictures of it.

OPI - Jade is the new Black + Kiko Sparkle Touch

Here is my mani from a few weeks ago, I was really liked how it turned out and wore it untill it chipped ( which takes longer than usual with OPI ).

Hier is mijn mani van een paar weken geleden, ik was erg blij met het resultaat en heb het gedragen totdat het chipte ( wat langer duurt dan anders met OPI ).
Kleur
Jade is the new Black is de perfecte kleur groen met een blauwe ondertoon, deze lak is prachtig!

Color
Jade is the new Black is the perfect green color with a blue undertone, it's gorgeous!
Applicatie
Perfect, met twee lagen is deze lak dekkend en streeploos. Droogt redelijk snel en met een mooie glans.

Application
Perfect, this polish is opaque and streekless with only two coats. Dries pretty fast and is very glossy.
Kiko Sparkle Touch
Twee lieve vriendinnen hebben van hun vakantie in Malaga (Spanje) een paar Kiko nagellakjes meegenomen. Toen ik deze lila Sparkle Touch zag wist ik dat ik deze het eerst wilde proberen over groen en het resultaat is nog mooier dan ik verwacht had! Met één laag heb je al het mooie effect wat je hier op de foto's ziet! Zelfs zonder fel zonlicht zie je de kleine paarse glimmertje heel goed.

Two lovely friends got me some Kiko nailpolishes from their holiday in Malaga (Spain). When I saw this lilac Sparkle Touch I knew I wanted to see this one over green and the result is much better then I expected. With only one coat I had the beautiful effect you see here on the pictures! Even without direct sunlight the tiny purple sparklies are very noticable.
Jade heeft geen versieringen nodig, maar ik werd wel heel vrolijk van deze mani! Kijk het eens gezellig glimmen allemaal!
Zo en nu ga ik eens bedenken welke mani ik vandaag ga opdoen, keuzes, keuzes...

Jade doesn't need any decoration, but this mani made me very happy. Just look at the fun sparklies!
And now I'm going to think about the mani I'll be doing today, choises, choises...

GLITTERPARTYYYY - Mad as a Hatter (2nd review) + layering

One of my first posts here on the blog was about OPI's Mad as a Hatter, one of the most beautiful glitter polishes ever made. I didn't have a camera then, so pictures were made with my crappy cellphone and they look awful and don't do this polish justice at all. So I decided to do a 2nd post with better pictures.

Eén van mijn eerste posts hier op mijn blog ging over OPI's Mad as a Hatter, één van de mooiste glitter lakken ooit gemaakt. Ik has toen nog geen fototoestel, dus ik maakte foto's met mijn waardeloze mobieltje en ze zien er vre-se-lijk uit en doen deze lak helemaal geen recht. Dat zat me nogal dwars, dus hierbij doe ik een tweede post van deze lak met betere foto's.

Color Club - Twiggie

Neons for summer? Yes please! This beautiful neon came with the swap I did with The Polish-Aholic, I haven't worn it yet because I don't think neons are work-appropriate, but I can't wait to wear it as a full mani! I think this polish wil get a lot of attention.

Neons in de zomer? Ja graag! Deze prachtige neon kreeg in in mijn swap met The Polish-Aholic. ik heb 'm nog niet gedragen omdat ik neons niet geschikt vind voor werk, maar ik kan niet wachten om 'm een keer als full mani te dragen! Ik denk dat deze lak alle aandacht zal krijgen.
Kleur
Neon mintgroen. Ik vind het een vrij bijzondere kleur, normaal lijken alle neons op fluoriserende stiften, deze niet, de stift die hierop lijkt moet ik nog tegenkomen.

Color
Neon mint green. I think this color is unique, often the neons look like fluorescent markers, this one doesn't, or I haven't seen that marker yet.
Applicatie
Ik heb best een boel neons ondertussen en veel ervan hebben een lastige applicatie. Twiggie lijkt op de meeste neons, wat dik en een beetje streperig bij de eerste twee lagen, maar de derde laag maakt alles redelijk glad. Hij droogt matte op, dus met een laagte topcoat is ie weer helemaal mooi.

Application
I have quite a few neons and alot of them have a tricky application. Twiggie is like most neons: a little bit thick and streeky at the first two coats, but the third coat makes it look even. It dries matte, so you'll need the topcoat, but after that it looks really nice.
Hmmm misschien moet ik toch maar van mani verwisselen en deze vandaag gaan dragen, het is een prachtige dag en ik denk dat het leuk zou staan als ik straks weer naar De Parade ga.

Hmmm mabe I do have to change my mani today and wear this one. It's a beautiful day and I think it will look great when I go to The Parade again ( theatre festival with also lots of nice food and drinks ).

Hema nr 79 and Thunder the Helpful Swatching Cat

This weekend I wanted to swatch a polish for you that I own for a very long time but haven't shown you yet. I like it very much and my cat Azrael aka Donder ( = Thunder in Dutch ) likes it also...more about this after the review.

Dit weekend wilde ik een nagellak voor jullie swatchen die ik al een hele tijd heb maar nog nooit aan jullie heb laten zien. Ik vind 'm erg mooi en mijn kater Azrael aka Donder vond 'm ook mooi...meer hierover na de review.
Kleur
Aubergine met shimmer, het is een donkere kleur, maar door de shimmer licht de kleur op en lijkt de kleur nooit zwart.

Color
Eggplant with shimmer, it's a very dark color, but the shimmer lights the polish up and it never looks black.
Applicatie
De lak is heel erg dun, dus ik draag 4 lagen voor een gedekt resultaat, maar verder is het een fijne lak.

Application
The polish is very thin, so I'm wearing 4 coats for opacity, but other than that it's a great polish.
( Yes there are bubbles on my nails. This is not the polish' fault, it's very hot and humid in Holland the past few weeks and layering 4 coats of polish on my warm sweaty fingers probably made the wonderful bubble-effect)

Hier zie je de lak met flits, zo zie je de shimmer beter.
Here you have the polish with flah, it shows the shimmer better this way. En wie kwam er nieuwsgierig kijken toen ik foto's aan het maken was op de bank? Ja het is mijn lieve Donder. Hoi Donder!
And who came snooping around when I was taking pictures on the couch? Yes, it's my dear Thunder. Hi Thunder!

4 World Cup Mani's ( beware of orange overkill )

So you probably know the Dutch football ( or soccer ) team made it into the World Cup Finals. I can tell you: Holland's gone craaazyyyy now. I'm not a big fan of soccer, but even I think it's exciting now, and ofcourse I like being crazy ;-)
My World Cup mani's aren't that crazy, but I like to share some I did:

Oké, we staan dus in de finale en heel Nederland is officieel gek geworden. Ik ben geen voetbal liefhebber, maar zelf ik vind het wel een beetje spannend worden. En uiteraard als er gek gedaan wordt dan ben ik daar graag bij.
Mijn WK-mani's zijn niet zo heel gek, maar ik heb er wel een paar die ik wil laten zien.

*sings* Ruby Ruby Ruby ahaaahhaaaaaaaaaa

Vorige week droeg ik China Glaze Ruby Pumps die op mijn wishlist stond en ik gekregen heb in een Swap met The Swatch-Aholic. Deze lak is zooo mooi, sexy en glimmend, ik vind 'm helemaal geweldig.

Last week I wore China Glaze Ruby Pumps, it was on my wishlist and The Polish-Aholic got it for me in a swap. This is a very pretty, sexy and sparkly polish and I love it.

Kleur
Rood jelly nagellak bomvol kleine rode glitters die door de jelly heel goed te zien zijn. Zucht...zo mooi...

Color
Red jelly polish filled with small little glitter that are visible through every layer of the polish. Sigh...so pretty...

Applicatie
De lak is erg dun én het is een jelly dus ik had 4 lagen nodig voor een redelijk dekkend resultaat, maar de lak droogde snel, zeker na een laag Seche Vite. Ik denk dat ik met 3 lagen genoegen zou nemen als ik geen macro-foto zou maken, bij jelly's vind ik het niet zo erg als je nog wat nagel door de lak ziet.

Application
It's a very thin jelly polish so I needed 4 coats for a fairly opaque result, but the polish dried reasonably quick and I used Seche Vite as a topcoat.
I think 3 coats would be enough for me if I'm not taking macro-shot pictures, for a jelly it's not so bad to see some VNL.

Op één of andere manier was het voor mijn camera onmogelijk om te laten zien hoe mooi deze lak in het echt is. Op vrijwel alle foto's was de lak veel lichter en meer oranje dan hij eigenlijk is. Ik denk dat ik wel 40 foto's heb gemaakt die totaal niet leken op hoe de lak er in het echt uitziet. Dit zijn de enige foto's die een beetje in de buurt komen. Ach ja, je hebt de lak waarschijnlijk zelf of je hebt al ontelbaar veel foto's gezien die wel goed gelukt zijn, dus je weet hoe mooi deze is.

For some reason my camera wasn't able to capture the true beauty of this polish. On most of the pictures the polish seemed lighter and more orangy than it is irl. I think I made over 40 pictures that didn't resemble the true color. These are the only pictures that weren't totally off. Oh well, you probably own this polish already of have seen numerous pictures that did turn out great, so you know how gorgeous it is!

Een middagje liggend in het park met een witte nagellak en een zwarte nailart pen in mn tas kon ik de verleiding niet weerstaan om eens een luipaardprint te proberen. Oké het is niet heel mooi, maar ik vond het een redelijke poging :-)

An afternoon in the park and found a white polish and black nailart pen in my bag, I couldn't resist the temptation to try out a freehand leopard print. Okay, it's not done very well, but I like to think it's a reasonable good first try :-)

OPI - The 'It' Color

This is my NOTW from two weeks ago, it made me so happy. This is the first yellow polish I wore as a complete mani and I fell head over heels in love with it.

Deze lak droeg ik twee weken geleden als NOTW en ik werd hier heel erg vrolijk van! Dit is de eerste gele nagellak die ik als volledige mani heb gedragen en ik ben er helemaal verliefd op geworden.

Kleur
Het is een warme beetje donkere kleur geel. Het bijzondere van deze kleur is dat het een heel opvallende kleur is die toch ook vrij netjes gedragen kan worden. Deze kleur past echt geweldig bij mijn huidskleur. Ik ben echt enthousiast over deze lak en wil 'm heel graag snel weer dragen, ookal heb ik nog héél veel ongebruikte lakjes liggen.

Color
It's a warm somewhat darker yellow. What I really like is how it's an unsusual striking color, but it's also possible to wear it quite decently to work. This polish looks great with my skintone. I'm really enthousiastic about this one and I can't wait to wear it again, eventhough I have lot's of untrieds waiting for me. Applicatie
De lak is een beetje dik, maar heeft een jelly-achtige kwaliteit: Dus hoewel de lak wat dik en streperig leek te zijn bij de eerste laag, hij droogde toch helemaal glad en streeploos op. Er waren wel 4 lagen nodig voor een volledig dekkend resultaat omdat de lak een beetje jelly-achtig is. Maar de droogtijd was prima, dus zo erg vond ik het niet om een extra laagje te smeren. Oh en de lak is ook prachtig glossy van zichzelf.

Application
The polish is a little bit thick, but with a jelly-like quality: so while the polish seemed a bit thick and streeky, it evened out perfectly smooth and streekless. Because of the jelly-like quality it needed 4 coats for opacity, but drying time was fine so I didn't mind the extra layer of polish. Oh and the polish is very glossy.
( I know it looks like there is VNL, but I assure you it's just my camera playing tricks on me)

Ik heb deze lak gedragen van donderdagavond tot maandagavond en er waren geen beschadigingen en ik had minimale slijtage aan de randen. De enige reden dat ik de lak eraf haalde was omdat ik een andere kleur wilde dragen.
Vlak voordat ik The 'It' Color eraf haalde ontving een pakketje met 3 Konad nailart pennen. Uiteraard moest ik een paar streepjes zetten om te kijken hoe ze werkten. En ik vond het eigenlijk wel leuk staan voor een eerste poging, dus heb ik er een foto van gemaakt.

Right before I removed The 'It' Color, I received a package containing 3 Konad nailart pens. Ofcourse I had to make a few lines to try one of them out. When I was done trying the nailart pen out I thought it looked nice for a first try, so I snapped a picture for you
( this is after 4 full days of wear...no chips, no tipwear)
